Supply Chain Manager - Purchasing

Currently have an opening in the Pittsburgh, PA area for a Supply Chain Manager. The goal of the Supply Chain Manager is to create and maintain a department working environment that assigns responsibility and ownership, encourages openness to the expression of individual ideas and concerns, demands the attainment and maintenance of high productivity with minimal increases in employment, and recognizes and rewards individuals and the department for accomplishments and efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing and managing the purchasing activities for all OE and Service and Parts related requirements. 
  • Manage the everyday procurement activities for raw material, components, MRO/Capital Equipment, Sub Contracting, Strategic Sourcing and Foreign Trade Zone/Trade Compliance required for OE, Service and Sales parts, insuring manufacturing schedules and customer requirements are satisfied.
  • Review, update, develop and execute departmental policies and procedures 
  • Develop effective and measurable department and individual goals and objectives in line with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Execute and maintain mutually beneficial long-term supplier relationships developed by Strategic Sourcing. 
  • Hire and continually evaluate departmental personnel to ensure that potential meets expectations and make adjustments accordingly
  • Support supplier negotiations as required by Strategic Sourcing. Lead and/participate in negotiations for Purchased parts, Subcontract parts, MRO and Capital Equipment as needed.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews; Provide coaching, counseling and career development.
  • Track and record departmental and individual metrics for established goals and objectives.  
  • Direct supplier negotiations (other than those strategically identified) in the areas of pricing, quality and special programs.
  • Develop, manage and perform to departmental operating budgets and report variances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management/Business Administration or a minimum of 10 years purchasing or material management experience with a minimum 5 years experience as a purchasing or materials management supervisor. MBA considered a plus.
  • ISM or APICS certification is a plus
  • Broad and thorough understanding, knowledge and experience in the principles and practical application of purchasing, materials management, trade compliance, MRO/Capital Equipment, manufacturing, quality assurance, accounting and information systems. 
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong negotiating and persuasive skills 
  • Requires understanding of contracts and UCC/International laws and regulations.
  • Ability to multi-task and function in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
