Currently have an opening in the Pittsburgh, PA area for a Vice President of Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a background developing and managing technical staff, managing environmental engineering projects, and have the ability to develop, manage, and grow client relationships and procure work. 

Essential Duties of the VP of Engineering

  • Manage a diverse group of environmental, civil, chemical, and mechanical engineers, geologists/hydrogeologists, environmental specialists and technicians with varying levels of experience and expertise.  
  • Oversee work involving environmental investigations, studies, design, permitting, compliance, and field support of projects.  (Projects could include soil, waste, water, air, oil, or other media.)
  • Lead the procurement of work for the group from sources within and outside the company and maintain chargeability goals of the staff.
  • Develop and manage existing client business relationships and work to establish new client relationships.
  • Oversee staff’s work performance in terms of quality, budget, schedule, etc.
  • Identifying and implement improvements and efficiencies to workflow processes.
  • Staff Development, including organizational structure and staff procurement.
  • Proposal preparation and cost estimating, quality control reviews, and coordination with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare schedules, budgets, scopes of work, cost plans and projections.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime.

Requirements of the VP of Engineering

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited Engineering School; Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Professional certification required.  Multiple states is a plus.
  • Minimum 15+ years’ experience working with engineering consulting or similar experience.
  • Experience in environmental engineering, permitting, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills and advanced technical writing ability. 
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills are a must.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and work out of the office, including overnight trips.
