Job Description
Oxford Solutions has an opening with our manufacturing client located in Horseheads, NY for a Buyer . This position plans and provides, at minimum costs, the necessary materials to manufacture saleable products.

Responsibilities
- Negotiate prices, terms, delivery, and conditions of purchase from suppliers for a variety of assigned commodities.
- Implement controls to follow up purchase order, issue change notices, and catalog suppliers' prices and quotations in an efficient manner.
- Request and analyze bids and approve suppliers based upon such factors as facilities, financial status, manpower, reliability and price.
- Coordinate communication between engineering, operating departments and suppliers to insure that pertinent information is disseminated accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare Purchasing Department reports and reviews to include cost reviews, price predictions, effects of material costs on products, supplier capacity, etc.
- Prepare data for timely returns to vendor in compliance with Oracle guidance and FSC requirements
- Formulate and administer inventory control guidelines for stocking levels, safety stock and receipt of materials.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Associate degree in Business Administration, Materials Planning, or related area
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving purchasing / planning and scheduling or the supervision of those functions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Proficient with use of Oracle or SAP
- Highly organized
- Excellent communication skills
